New technologies and smartphones have changed the way we consume information. Many cities and municipalities are using these new opportunities to share information with their target audience. In various media, such as websites, social media channels, community newspapers and various apps (such as waste calendars), interested parties can obtain information about the municipality or city. In addition to the problem of distributed data, the information in conventional media, such as the municipal gazette, is quickly outdated or simply not relevant.

The solution: A central information platform

With this information platform for citizens, we aim to present relevant information in just one platform (web) and thus facilitate access for the various target groups of a municipality. Users have the option of hiding irrelevant data in order to create their individual municipal information experience.

More flexibility through modular design

The modular structure makes it possible to individually adapt the platform for each municipality and city. The available information is presented by subject area in so-called widgets (tiles). This approach offers advantages both for users, as already mentioned at the beginning (hiding irrelevant information), as well as for cities, municipalities or tourist regions. The desired information is compiled via the administration interface and published with just one mouse click. All information (widgets) that is not required is simply hidden. Extensions or adjustments are possible at any time.

Easy integration of different data sources

The platform for citizens enables the integration of various information, such as events, news and shopping opportunities, via various data sources. This has the advantage that the data only needs to be maintained and updated in one place, which means that the application stays in sync, i.e. automatically has the latest information. The corresponding data sources can be easily managed via the administration interface. In this way, the platform can be used as a virtual information desk to support existing contact points (tourism information, etc.).

Improved communication with citizens and tourists through push notifications

Another important aspect is improved municipal or tourist communication. Responsible employees can create and send short notifications via the administration interface. Users who have signed up to receive these messages are informed in real time about, for example, postponements of events or severe weather warnings. Context-relevant information such as waste dates, events and announcements is also forwarded in real time.
