For 2 years, we have been working in close partnership with City of Dornbirn together to develop innovative services, provide data as a basis for decision-making and increase citizen service.

Klaus Lingg, Head of Department Digital management of the city of Dornbirn, about Citymonitor: “Permanent live monitoring enables a faster assessment of the situation. To date, we have been able to network separate data silos and thus identify interactions, which made planning easier for us. Through the optimal visual processing of complex data and the resulting transparency, we were able to increase our efficiency in many areas.”

sustainability

Die City of Dornbirn focuses on sustainable use of renewable resources. By simply integrating your photovoltaic systems into Citymonitor, you can see benefits and returns as well as defects at a glance, saving costs and optimising returns.

Heating curve optimization in buildings

One of the first projects was real-time monitoring of room temperature in 7 selected rooms at Bergmanngasse secondary school. Two classrooms facing east, south and west, as well as the gym, were equipped with sensors. The aim of the monitoring was to adjust the heating curve to bring the classes to the right temperature at the right time. This ensures that classrooms are heated accordingly at the start of school and not hours before the start of class. By using cost-effective sensors, which were integrated via the free LoRaWAN™ network, the building could be easily upgraded and monitored. Otherwise, this would only have been possible by retrofitting an expensive home control system.

Citizen service through automated bots

The Dornbirner Furt is a central traffic axis for commuter traffic in Dornbirn. During heavy rain, it is flooded and therefore impassable. As part of the Dornbirn Smart City competition, we developed the “Furtbot”. An alarm system that provides information about the current status and closure of the barrier. The Dornbirner “Furtbot” has been available via Telegram and Facebook Messenger for 2 months. Commuters are informed by push message before departure whether the route across the ford is blocked and can plan an alternative route early on. Users can also have live images of the webcam installed on site sent to them. The prototype took 2nd place in the Dornbirn Smart City Competition. Dornbirn is well on the way to showcasing Austria's Smart City and we at Citymonitor are happy to support this with our platform.
